We had hoped for more rain today and while up to 1″ of precipitation was predicted…we only received 1/10″ or so. It was overcast most of the day but the rain simply missed us; mostly to the south (that’s the “bum steer”!). We did have some great help today and were able to salvage a very productive day for both grounds staff and the volunteers. Above is one of two new signs for the Hummingbird Haven theme in the Nancy Yahr Memorial Children’s Garden. That garden is looking great and now includes some great signage (see below).
Big John, Terry, Janice, Larry, Trevor and Nolan all had a wide range of gardening tasks that we fit in around the intermittent rain drops. We did have some productive “rainy day” projects too but ironically ended up watering at the end of the day due to lack of significant rain (can you tell I’m bitter!?). Our volunteers included Kathy, Eva, Kay, Judy, Alan, Larry and many others. Our Horticultural Therapy Committee (Darcie, Janice, Art, Tom, Darcie ) met as well to discuss our July 27th Horticultural Therapy event (check out our website!).
