Five of Five

We had our fifth of five sequential Saturday Volunteer Planting Days (8 am – 12 noon) today.  It became quite muggy quickly and the area surrounding the gardens was packed (as was our parking lot) with participants for the Annual Pie Ride (hosted by the Morning Rotary Club).  This involved A LOT of folks on bikes but nice to see all the activity.  Above is Brian who was one of 15 volunteers that helped plant today.  Along with help from Big John, Tina B., Larry O. and Bill O., we were also joined by Donna, Nicole, Sue, Brian, Elaine, Marv, Debbie, Josef, Heather, Maureen, Kath, Hannah, Maggie and Gena.  We also saw Becky, Riley, Hal, Doris, Polly and many others today. Thankfully we had over an inch of rain Friday night which alleviated our concerns over significant watering over this super hot weekend!  Great progress with over 80% of our annuals installed….We also saw some staff from Boerner Botanical Gardens (Hales Corners, WI) touring the gardens today led by Jessica C., a good friend.
