I left this morning and started my journey to Columbus, OH for the Cultivate 16 event. This green industry event includes vendors, presentations, networking, new plant introductions, etc. I’ve always wanted to attend and am now headed that way. However, I’m taking advantage of my Eastward momentum by stopping at other gardens. Today, I spent about 4 hours at the Chicago Botanic Garden (Glencoe, IL) and then traveled to West Lafayette, IN and visited the plant trials at Purdue University. Tomorrow I have three more stops on my way to arriving in Columbus in the evening. Should be fun. I took about 1000 photos today including the one above at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Above is ‘Garnet’ Japanese maple (Acer palmatum var. dissectum) with ‘Superba’ false spirea (Astilbe sp.).
