About the event
The program begins indoors with a brief presentation covering the basics of selecting, growing, and maintaining hardy chrysanthemums for years of reliable autumn color. Participants then head out into the garden for a hands-on session focused on properly cutting back mums and using simple propagation techniques to create new plants. Learn when and how to take cuttings, encourage healthy growth, and expand your mum collection while keeping your plants vigorous and blooming beautifully year after year.
Dan is an avid gardener with a landscape filled with perennials, annuals, and a large backyard prairie. He has presented gardening seminars at the Madison Garden Expo for eight years on topics including prairie establishment, shade gardening, wildlife gardens, and conservation. Dan has also taught seed starting classes at Olbrich Botanical Gardens for the past eight years and recently expanded his teaching to the Marshall Public Library.
