Photography and Videography Policy

Rotary Botanical Gardens - Photography & Videography Policy (2026)

Rotary Botanical Gardens welcomes visitors to capture their experiences through personal and casual photography. However, any posed professional or nonprofessional, or planned photo sessions require compliance with the policy outlined below.

Who Needs a Photography Permit?

A permit is required if any of the following apply:

  • You are conducting a posed photography session with clients or subjects

  • Your session is for weddings, engagements, family portraits, seniors, quinceañeras, or similar

  • Your group is dressed in special or coordinated attire for photography

  • You brought people to the Gardens specifically for a photo session

Photography Permit Fee & Requirements

Fee: $50 per session

  • Includes 1 photographer and up to 2 people

  • Valid for 1-hour session during regular garden hours

  • Each additional person beyond the 2 included must pay regular admission or be a current RBG member

  • Larger groups may be accommodated on weekdays with advance arrangement

Booking Process:

  • Submit completed Photography Permit Application and payment at least one week in advance

  • Applications and payment may be submitted in person at the Cottage Gallery Gift Shop or by mail

  • Payment accepted by cash, check (payable to Rotary Botanical Gardens), or credit card

  • Your permit application will be processed and confirmed by RBG staff

 
Day of Session:

  • Photographer must check in at the Cottage Gallery Gift Shop before beginning the session

  • Present your payment receipt to receive your photographer badge

  • Badge must be worn visibly during your entire session

  • There are no refunds for photography permits, but sessions may be rescheduled once in the event of severe weather

Photography Guidelines

All photographers and their groups must follow these guidelines:

  • Sessions must take place during regular garden hours only

  • Remain on pathways and grassy turf at all times

  • Do not stand on or in fountains, pools, or on fountain borders

  • Do not disturb, damage, or remove plants, plant labels, or containers

  • Do not block access to entrances, pathways, or garden areas for other visitors

  • Props, furniture, and luggage are not permitted

  • Changing or dressing facilities are not provided; guests should arrive prepared

  • Multiple photography permits may be approved for the same time period

Special Event Rentals
Photography during scheduled facility rentals (weddings, receptions, etc.) is included at no additional cost during your rental period. General photography guidelines still apply.

Seasonal Events
Certain seasonal events—such as prom and homecoming—may have separate photography rules or exceptions. Please check our website or social media for updates on special event policies.
