Discover the magical world of monarch butterflies at Wings of Wonder: A Monarch Adventure, part of the Me and My Big Child/Adult Workshop Series at Rotary Botanical Gardens. Join Karen Albrecht, known as the Butterfly Lady, and her assistant John Riek for a hands-on journey from egg to release.

About the event
You'll explore live specimens, participate in interactive learning activities, and share in the Monarch Watch tagging efforts backed by over 34 years of research through the University of Kansas. You'll also learn how to maintain your own Monarch Waystation and take home seeds to plant.
Butterfly nets are available to borrow or bring your own. Don't forget your camera and bug spray! This workshop is best suited for kids ages 5 to 12, and each child must be accompanied by at least one adult. Please dress for the weather.
Karen Albrecht is a retired Early Childhood Educator from Janesville who has been tagging monarchs for Monarch Watch through the University of Kansas for 25 years. She and her assistant John Riek raise, tag, and release monarchs throughout the season from their home in Fort Atkinson.
