Fall Blooms at Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville
It’s not quite summer and it’s not quite fall, which makes this a great time to visit. The gardens are showing off both seasons right now. Why choose?
Summer’s Last Blooms Are in Full Force
Dahlias are at their peak, and they are putting on a show. Japanese anemone, autumn crocus, and asters are handing the spotlight to toad lily and monkshood.
Monkshood has traditionally been our last flower to start blooming, and it is just getting going. It will carry us into late fall.
Old Friends Return for One Last Look
Some familiar faces are making a surprise return. Forsythia, rhododendron, woodland pink, and roses are rebloom for one last look before winter, just to name a few. See how many you can find on your visit.
Fall Is Slowly Arriving
Fall blooms at Rotary Botanical Gardens are making their
way into the gardens, and the golden glow has arrived. It is usually our first hint of the season. A yellow tinge settles over everything, and the air starts to feel like fall.
Perennials like threadleaf amsonia turn yellow, and the leaves begin to change color. The golden glow is beautiful, but it is short-lived, so don’t miss it.
What Comes Next in the Japanese Garden
Soon the yellow will give way to oranges and reds, especially in the Japanese Garden, which has a very different fall feel from the rest of the gardens.
